I'm Betsy Drummond and I'm married to a hopeless BorderCollic. There is no treatment and there is no cure for this disease. My husband Rob has been afflicted for more than a decade. It started innocently enough with our first cute little BC puppy. I thought it was a dog, but I was oh so very wrong. The tell tale signs were dog #2, dog #3, dog #11 etc. It progressed to the flock of sheep and the farm in New Hampshire. There's the tractor, the kennel, the camper and a complete line of sheepdog whistles because Rob couldn't figure out how to "finger whistle".
I know more about Border Collies, sheep, dog trials and addictions than I ever could have imagined or care to. My response to this is to stop fighting it, throw in the towel and go public with this problem - Border Collies are an addiction, so I may as well just step up and become an enabler. I peddle the good that feed the addiction and foster the frenzy. At the very least, it will help pay for the kibble, and possibly a little therapy later in life.
